🍕Art! 🍕 Pizza! 🍕 Charity! 🍕

Join Project Pizza on December 2, 2023, for our sixth annual pizza-themed art fundraiser to fight hunger.

Yeaaaaaahhhhh, we’re baaaaaack and ready to get [deliciously] greasy and spicy! In an artistic way, of course.

—> Online preorders open Thursday, November 30th at noon Pacific Time. We sell out every year, so set your most annoying alarms and grab your slices early. <—

For this edition, artists Shing Yin Khor and Eron Rauch, along with a dozen talented friends, will be selling original art, prints, and other swanky pizza-themed swag. We’re even going to have a physical pop-up you can visit where you can get your pizza-hungry eyeballs’ craving filled and cheer on the artists.

Wait. Why, “cheer on the artists”, you ask? Well, other than they are awesome, this year, we’re bringing back everyone’s old-school favorite: A pizza-fueled endurance art draw-a-thon. What delirious pizzas will result? Extrasolar cosmic bliss? Frolicking sea creatures? Pineapple*? Who knows! You’ll just have to order some slices and find out!

Where does this money go? 100% of the profits from Project Pizza #6 are being donated to local Los Angeles County hunger relief agencies, including the awesome organization Food Forward. Combating both hunger and food waste, they work with farmer’s markets, orchards, and wholesalers to collect the surplus bounty that would otherwise be thrown away. That produce is then passed to hunger relief groups and at-need organizations of all kinds. Every $1 we give them redirects about 14 pounds of food. So buying even a single print means 140 pounds (yup, 140!) of peaches, lettuce, or other delicious produce will be saved to nourish someone in need.

Owing to our incredible supporters, we beat our previous record with our fifth event, with $8225 in donations, which is about 115,000 pounds of food that went out to feed the community instead of taking up space in the landfill. That is approximately 400 super-cute baby elephants, 6 ferociously hungry tyrannosaurus rexes waiting for their delivery guy to show up, or, amazingly, about 3/4 the weight of the entire Space Shuttle (without payload, for all you nerds.)

Our fundraising goal for 2023 is to beat our record again — it’s ambitious — but our artists have worked extra hard and the need in our community continues to be immense, so let’s do it again for Project Pizza 2023!

* Eron likes pineapple on the right pie. Also, anchovies rock. Heck, I once made budae jjigae pizza. Whatcha gonna do about it, eeeh?

In 2021, we raised enough money to rescue about 8600 the weight of this cute (and slightly famous) dog worth of food! Confusingly, this is not Rusty.
