Do you have any further information about "Bridges of Desire" and the anime subculture in America?
If you'd like to read it, I wrote an essay for the very cool Mechademia journal published by the University of Minnesota. To see it without the great layouts from designer Maranatha Wilson, you can go here on my site. If you want to see the article as presented with the slick design, you can order the book from Amazon here.
What was do the installations of your projects look like?
The works in Arcana, and every other project here, were never intended to be displayed one at a time, but instead in a more non-linear way. In each of my projects all of the images/pieces/objects function together as one work, stanzas in a poem, songs on an album, paragraphs in an essay etc. Each installation of a show is unique to that space down to the type of drinks and food. When available I have included some representative instalation shots. If you are curious to see how Arcana is laid out in a gallery or book situation, feel free to view a large image here.
Do you have a gallery?
I do not currently have gallery representation. If you are a curator, publisher, gallery owner, or know someone who would be interested in representing or showing my work please feel free to contact me to inquire at eronrauch at gmail dot com.
Are your works for sale?
Yes! Most all of the works you see here are available in one form or another. Feel free to contact me if you would like to purchase a specific piece or pieces. I am always willing to work with any supporter to find a price that would make both of us happy since all of the money I make goes directlyback into the production of new work.
How many peices are in each project?
While I've selected a representative portfolio for each project to post here, all of the projects have considerably more pieces in them! "Bridges of Desire" is about 120 photographs that I want to make in to a book. "Flâneur" has about 80 final prints in the main section, another 30 of the empty lot, and the large grid of names has a couple hundred images and would take up a wall if physically installed. Fantasy has about 50 major pieces along with a swarm of smaller installation bits and collage "Footnotes." "Arcana" has about 70 finished photographs in the final portfolio. "A Land to Die In" has a number of installation elements, books, portfolios and large prints totally about 150 images. "Apartment Homes Fake Book" is still ongoing - the work you see here is much of the first large xerox book, with the second and third finished as well and a fourth on the way that will cap the project for a total of about 100 photographs. "Japonisme" is around 25 colalges, 15 sighs, 20 origami and about 40 shots of Little Tokyo. "The Eternal Garden" is about 50 images.
Do you have any other projects in the works?
Yes! Though it is online, I'm not done finishing up Japaonisme. Additionally, I've written a couple of books of poetry and have a text painting series that is in progress. I have a new project about Rennisance Faires that is in progress as well.
It seems like you have definiate boundries between projects, what do you think connects them?
I actually have a video presentation I recently made which randomly mixed together a selection of my work from the past decade. I'd love for you to check it out and let me know your thoughts!
